So I uh... For the record I actually have met Kai Hanging out with Kai He's a great kid He's a very Well-intentioned Got a good heart I just uh... So that That's where the question comes in Right? At uh... I understand people's impulse To like be a good friend Be supportive Sure you're love Uh... So I'm actually a fan The people defending him I don't hate him I will... I am glad that he has friends I'm glad that he feels loved I'm glad that he has support Uh... I'm glad people are showing up for him But at the same time I think he messed up And... And... And... or something else I don't know I don't know what he's got But uh... We do love our shorts though Yeah Even in winter We'll be wearing shorts I don't know what that is Anyway, so... Yeah, here's the thing If we don't call people out and be like Yeah, no Like I don't want my kids Seeing this stuff And uh... Thinking it's okay Right? to kind of have to have people chewing them out a little bit. That might be too strong, but do you know what I mean? I don't like this idea that people can just start going way off the rails, and then this niceness Mormon culture is just like, well, you just gotta love them, like be nice, it's not our job, I kinda think that's like, cope, I think it's BS, I think it is very much our job to be like, real in these people back a little bit. Well, I was just gonna say, first I do agree that if you are a missionary, you're held to a certain standard, let's just get that part out the way. And I don't think some people are like, oh, I think people are trying to keep missionaries back in the 1990s or what have you. Like no, I think ultimately there is a standard if you truly believe you are a representative Jesus Christ, you need to act accordingly. And I'm not perfect by any means at that myself, and I wasn't as a missionary. So I understand that these are young guys that are learning, young guys and girls that are learning or whatnot, but there is a standard that we should be held to. Now what that said, when it comes to pushing back and calling them out, I think it's a matter of how we go about that or what the best process is versus giving maybe some of these posts more attention that then what is needed and hoping it go more viral than it should, I think is where the conversation really is. I think you do point out an unfortunate, cause yeah, like some of these things like blow up and it's way bigger than it ought to be. But then part of me just thinks like, well, yeah, like if you are a celebrity and you are in the limelight and you are, yeah, like I guess the rule is, if you're a public figure, you are setting yourself up for public. Just Christian, and I just think those are the rules. When you say a public figure, who are we talking about, your Kai? It could be Kai. The thing with me on my thoughts with the whole Kai thing is, I don't know what the rules are for service missionaries. I have no idea what they are. And even then the rules, here, then are much different, or I'm sorry, the rules now are much different from the rules that I had when I served. I don't know about you guys, but I served in 07 to 09. Anyway, so I don't know what's going on with service missionaries with the rules are, but I definitely, definitely, definitely don't think that you should be hanging around with the secret lives of Mormon wives, wearing a missionary badge, wearing shorts, looking like, dude, let's hang out until midnight. Freaking a, yeah, man, kind of think. I don't think he'd go as far as to do some shots, but he definitely witnessed it. That's for sure. Yeah. So, so how do we someone? And I thought this was an interesting I'm not criticizing this person. I thought it was an interesting comment. He shared the. Gosh, it was like a list of, oh man, what was it? It was basically like the, the quote unquote, rules of like calling someone out. And part of it was like, is this person like under my? What's the word? Not care, but someone helped me out here. I know they're you're like a like I think. Jurisdiction. I'm thinking of all the wrong words. But yeah, if this person is like, if you were like called to minister to this family, stewardship, stewardship, that's the one. Stewardship. Athler. I'm a morning. So I thought that was interesting. So I think some people are arguing like if this person is not under your stewardship, if you haven't been, I don't know what that means. Like you're not his, if this person hasn't been like assigned to you, you're not in the show. You have no jurisdiction. And that's where. Yeah. And so that's where I go back to the like, oh, is it different when it's being made public? I think if it's out in the public, if your, if your public is able to scrutinize, that's what I think. And like, oh, my God, the tan suits the tan suits and no, I do think if I, if I go out to, if I go out to public and I see missionaries doing something, that I know where against the handbook, I'm not going to say, oh, that's their mission president's job to tell them. I'm going to say obviously the mission president isn't going to see what I'm going to see because I was a missionary and I knew apostate missionaries when I was on my mission. And they didn't act like that at his own conference. You know, is there a way to see the up to date handbook as far as how missionaries should behave and what kind of lifestyle they should be having throughout the day? I'm sure it's somewhere. I really doubt it. That's different than what it was 10 years ago or 15 years ago. Oh, me. I could, I could not talk to my family on a phone. That's for dang sure. But I do feel we had a flip phone. I do feel it's different, though. If you see them out in public and you address something versus making it, uh, giving it more fire and fuel online, I do think there's a difference between the two. I will say this. Any news that's pointed at the church is always good news. So I'm not saying that what this kid did was good. At the same time, it does shine a light on us and any light is great light. He's next. So I really do believe so. I mean, like there hasn't been a moment in history, at least from what I've seen me personally. I maybe at a certain point, but I personally have not seen a moment where a light was shine on the church and it actually hurt the church really bad. You might be able to make the case that, uh, like history has shown that, right? You want to make that argument? I think where I'm concerned is like, is it, uh, necessarily the case? Or will that always be the case? That's where I get concerned. Uh, but I big K, I think you, you, you had a thumbs down on something. I don't remember what it was. Like, obviously, uh, him as a service missionary, I think he'd be under the stewardship of his bishop. Um, was that how it is? I don't, I don't think he has a mission present. So I'm sure that like, um, the church will see this post and kind of decide for themselves like their mission leaders will figure it out for themselves. Um, oh my gosh. My dog. My dog saw me. But like I think I have a hard time like seeing what Kai did is like inherently wrong. And maybe it's because I've never served a mission before. And I don't really like understand what's wrong with like an untucked shirt and shorts. But like I would have a hard time also being in that position, being like, no, I don't want to take pictures of the secret lives of morbid wives. I will tell you, I will tell you what is wrong. It is the badge that's on his shirt. He is a representative of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Like that is what is wrong. And it's, it's not so much the situation that he's in. It's, it's a situation that he's in with that badge on. Does that make sense? Yes. But like what exactly is the situation that's a bad because because these people have like sin before he shouldn't be like hanging out with them or because they are like representing Mormonism and it shouldn't be like what is what is exactly like it was a bomb Satan Sunday event like had flames and like it was it was like a thing
