Now we would like to welcome Jeff,
our speaker and funder and CEO of Monogron Exchange.
Jeff, would you like to briefly introduce yourself
to our audience?
Thank you so much.
Thanks, Moonlight.
And good evening everybody.
It's a privilege to be here.
Da Jaha.
Yeah, so my name is Jeff.
You, someone you might know me from the Binance Australia days
co-founded and ran as a CEO of a three years.
And about five years ago,
I launched Australia's basically built a company
that subsequently launched Australia first, Bitcoin ETF.
The second largest one in the country.
So I got experience both in crypto and also TratFi.
But let me start with a definition today,
because this category gets used loosely, which is RWA.
Everyone says it, right?
And then it has errors.
We're talking about RWA for, I think,
probably like a good two years now.
And what most people mean by it's it is tokenization.
It's basically putting a stock or a boner piece of property
on chain, right?
But it's actually two parts of it.
So once the market and once the asset,
what I mean by that is that tokenization of an asset
basically just turns it into an on chain asset.
It doesn't do much for it.
The market is actually what gives the liquidity
to the asset class.
So the market is basically the exchanges.
Most of the changes will slowly suddenly
set and moving into this direction.
But it's very interesting because what we're basically
done with a Bitcoin ETF is basically a reverse form
of RWA.
We're turning a on chain asset into a TratFi
on a building on a TratFi rail.
So what we're doing with monochrome exchange
is basically turning the other way is turning native TratFi
assets into on chain assets, on chain tradable assets.
Thank you so much, Jeff, for letting us
know about information.
And friends, well, as we know, Jeff has
a lot of great background and building through crypto.
So definitely, friends, be sure to give Jeff a follow.
Also, don't forget, if you haven't registered or downloaded
on the crown app yet, be sure to do that,
because this is a very unique change for potential
and is ongoing there.
IEO right now, just like earlier we mentioned in the end
soon on September 28, or while it fails.
So definitely don't miss this opportunity.
And well, Jeff, would you like to bring talk more about it,
or would you let's also start our first discussion topic?
Because someone who has built on both regulators side,
and crypto side, crypto is kind of like a well-were world.
And we do know that you have a lot of experience regarding crypto.
And we would like to hear more about it.
Where does it sit in crypto stack, especially defined
in RWA exchange that you are building right now?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thanks, Mon light.
I think the first step is basically the convergence
of track fire and defy through hardware
are through stock tokenization.
All the stock tokens are traded, which includes US stocks,
Hong Kong, on a monochrome, right?
It's like we have US stocks token.
We have Hong Kong.
We've got China, AQ, A shares.
We have Japanese stocks.
And we all recently opened up my Korean shares as well.
So these are basically bringing liquidity,
additional liquidity from the crypto wall.
And as we know, the liquidity crypto will
move a bit quicker than track fire into and bridging it
across to a wall where all these assets are very, first of all,
a lot of people like the fact that RWA
is actually an asset backing something
whereas crypto is a bit more speculative, right?
So both of its own audiences, but what we focus on as a platform
is that we focus on building a market for both asset classes.
So give you an example.
It's like what's really been happening
across the last couple of days that we've seen is
this two public company CEOs, one going after the other
about tokens, basically Robinhood and AMC CEO.
So Robinhood, for those that need a recap,
Robinhood, which is a stock and crypto trading platform
right now, rolled out a tokenized stock for AMC
and around 190 other companies without asking them.
So the AMC CEO basically said like Robinhood
was creating a fake market and his shares
and threatened to take it to the SEC.
SEC is the regulatory authority that
regulates securities in the US.
So Robinhood's answer was actually well-argued.
These are back one to one by real shares.
You get price exposure, just not ownership or devotes,
which is what Robinhood's argument is.
So they pointed out that the options
and the other products, references,
the company stock all the time with that permission
and nobody can write an angry post about it.
So this is actually very interesting for me, right?
Because in the past, the process of getting IPO
or going for IPO's, which is the pathway
for most listed companies or private companies,
in fact, to get liquidity from the market
is the gold public, which is true in IPO process.
But right now, we can actually tokenize listed company shares.
You can tokenize unlisted company shares,
which pre-IPO, we actually do have those in monochrome as well.
So these are done with that permission of the companies
that are being traded, turning to stock tokens.
So that's really interesting.
I think the future for crypto exchanges
is that it's no longer just crypto exchanges.
It's just an exchange for assets.
So that's what the narrative that we're building in monochrome
and a tech stack is getting ready for a world
that people don't see, if I want crypto,
I'll go to a crypto exchange, if I want to stop,
then go to a stock brokerage.
Like you just have everything in one platform, it's so easy.
I totally agree with that.
And that is so convenient.
So friends, be sure if you haven't done so,
give monochrome a try, register and download the app.
And also I believe Jeff has gave everyone a clear definition
on what the art of exchanges and where monochrome
wants to sit in the market right now.
And before we go into our token, MCR,
we also wanted to go back to the origin story
because we have understood that Jeff's path, right?
It's not the usual, we shipped a prep DAX
and then added a narrative.
It's not that simple, right?
So we want to go deeper and ask about
how would you monochrome come about?
Would you like to take us through how you went from being Jeff
to being a co-founder and CEO of Finance Australia
to now running your own exchange monochrome?
Thank you.
Thanks.
Yeah, so it's a bit of a journey, right?
It's like crypto feels like a long time,
even though it's just a couple of years.
So I kind of knew about Bitcoin in 2013.
That was on Reddit.
I read about it because of the Cypriot financial crisis.
People's money was basically being used
by their government to build the mistakes of the country
and someone was suggesting that Bitcoin and all this kind of stuff.
So back then it was kind of just a passion thing,
but fast forward a couple of years,
I was still at school back then
and I started like a payments company
that lets businesses to pay with Bitcoin.
We eventually did for, that was in Australia.
So we did Bitcoin payments for the Brisbane Airport
based a couple of stores and then there was
an ecosystem of very early ecosystem
where people can pay with crypto.
So that was in 2017 around the same time
where Binance started.
We kind of got acquainted like just a couple of months
maybe close to a year since after the start of Binance
and after the start of my business.
And then they basically came on board
as shareholders of the company that was set.
And long story short, that company became Binance Australia
I decided that it was time to build something cool
for the Australian market where using a global tech
sort of like powerhouse to actually do this.
So we rented for a good three years
and then after that thought that actually,
the market instead of moved from just like DeFi
more into Tread File, what I mean by that was that
it was like the time where Michael Saila
that's micro strategy started that Bitcoin treasury play
and that was the time where Bitcoin ETFs weren't
a thing yet, right?
It was like early, early 2021.
I started Monochrome at 2021 with one mission.
It said I want to build a Bitcoin ETF.
I want to build the first Bitcoin ETF in Asia.
So because my background is Asia, I grew up,
I love Asia grew up here.
So you know what made me realize is that like
Tread File products, although they are really hard to build
because of the regulatory mode around them.
You have to be very qualified.
You have to have all those procedures in place
that crypto exchanges may not need to buy to.
But that is a pro of Tread File products.
There's protection that is stronger
than just regular DeFi environment.
But the DeFi environment do have a bit more freedom
to innovate quicker.
So I kind of like play in both sides for a very long time.
And eventually I realized that like, you know,
that's actually not much difference
with a crypto exchange and like a stock offering.
We basically built a listed product
that is backed by Bitcoin, right?
Bitcoin ETF.
Greudat and to the second largest Bitcoin ETF in Australia.
And it's still running, you know?
That's the business that we keep in Australia very,
very happily.
It's something that we've put a lot of blood, sweat and tears on.
But my passion is still like giving out opportunities
and investors to invest in markets
that may not be accessible to them
at where they are or at the point of time.
So I decided that, you know, why not we combine
my experience at Binance Australia and my experience
at building an ETF to build a RWA tokenized asset exchange
to trade basically every stock in the world.
Like my message to the team is that like if someone asks us
to list a equity token, I mean anywhere in the world,
we should be able to work on that and list it
in like in a week max.
So yeah, I think we're probably one of the exchanges right now
with the most variety of equities in terms of markets.
We have like like five countries in a region to, you know,
we've opened up and we're going to do more as we go.
So yeah, that's been on the background, you know, that I would stress
that like, you know, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not like the only person
in the space that has run a crypto exchange, but I'm a person
that has run a crypto exchange and a very regulated
trade-fight product.
So my experience is in the spectrum of things from DeFi
to the most pointy end of CFI.
So I hope that, you know, gives people a context of why we're doing
this at Monocromon.
Hope that you guys can be a part of the journey
that we are in Bapcom.
Thanks.
Thank you so much, Jeff.
Oh, wow.
Have some good kids have a big shout out.
Jess background definitely brings together
action operations, right?
And also has other experience bring regular investment
products and traditional capital markets, right?
In so many different areas that Jeff has been so doing so good
and doing so many things to our ecosystem over here.
So that definitely bring us to the next question.
A lot of people ask when they hear about tokenized assets, right?
Ardivay has been super popular during the recent cycle.
So people are wondering, talking about tokenized assets for a while, right?
Why is it now feels like different than what is it actually?
What is actually a monocromon?
What is at what is Monocrom different from others that Jeff would
you like to bring this up to our audience?
Thank you.
Thanks, my light.
Yeah, you're right.
