Lead us in Sunnivana. Thank you very much sir the flow is yours
Um
Thank you so much Delight first of all I'd like to say
It's
Thank you to Delight not for myself
But for everyone here
Um that's just starting out everyone here that doesn't have
Information
Um doesn't have access to information that would help imoha
skill or start out as um if you're long term especially on upper
So um big thank you to you for organizing this it's
You're very nice opportunity for everyone here
And I really hope everyone here takes advantage
Of this opportunity I see um if a trend of people want to suite are saying
Skill people that are trying to like organize master classes organized um
Conference done over largest trying to make money off the people that comes
And they keep forgetting that they are also three um things like this
That I mean provide a lot of opportunities for people and they don't take advantage of it to everyone here
Please take advantage of everything that will be said here today
And one very interesting thing I don't know what others people have planned
For today, but one very interesting thing is
Topics like this we always almost see close to the same thing
One person say something one person's one under presence is the same thing or
Goal in a different directions or in the similar way
Um, so it means that
Is buying is working there's a template and everybody's mind is working the same way
Uh, so I was talking to Mr. Delights about
Well, we'll be talking about and
Because I have it in love to instance talk about and he gave us some kind of direction
to going
And to right now I'm talking I'm going to be talking about my first
Um the process of learning my first tanky on our program
Right, I'm going to be very detailed. I will not keep anything
I won't keep anything away from you guys. I'm going to be very very hoping
If you guys are still here me please
Um give it terms up or just wrap some emoji
Perfect perfect. All right cool
So the first thing I'm going to be saying is
Um starting out as a freelancer. There's a one two you have
Right, they have to utilize
Right want to know nobody really talks about people talk about it for
Um people think it's
It's not as important as figuring out tricks tips and tricks
But the foundation of
Of um your career as a freelancer is in your skill
That's one thing I want everyone to understand
If you get the greatest client and you have the shittier skill
You would lose that client, right
Now your skill doesn't have to be um particularly
The hardcore skills. I mean for instance as a writer the skill doesn't have to be you know it out to write excel at the right
It could be very extremely good communication
However your writing skills should not be terrible as well. We should also have those soft skills figured out
So first of all figure out your skill. I'll tell you story
When I started out I wasn't
Writing on North work. I was writing for all that freelancers that had
Uproar backgrounds
I had friends a couple of guys that would just send me a message you can you write this article
Kind of opposed to say opposed to that and I mean I said I was in D2 sheet evil with time
I go through good at it and at some point I figured that if
People need to let me this much to get their clients job done then it means
There's nothing stopping me from trying to get the clients
So at that point I already knew I had a seal. I had the contents skill. I could write
Extremely engaging us if we use I could write extremely converting us close out wrong on Google
Another double I did not know to get the clients
So remember this your skill is the foundation of the career of the freelance right
All right cool. So moving on
Let me just say a little bit of
You know share call it in motivation our story
Right what is the true story right how I started out with first thing I did
Um when I started out supposed to
Get gigs for my friends right dead gigs from people around
But when I was getting those gigs. I didn't know how they last up. I had
No proper gadgets. I didn't have a very good one. Right
Um at the time I had to borrow my friends laptop
Was living next to me. I would go meeting ask for his laptop. Sometimes you have something to be reluctant for
such a shadowy time that
I was just going to complete the project and so sometimes and that's what's meant to be a fast write-up because
Sometimes the only time that I'll have to use this laptop in the night and power
And then I'll have like a three thousand words
Use to write and I have to it's down to that one hour. I think
So it will be very very um interesting time
Uh
Later on I got a laptop. I was gifted one
Um it was shiba. I wish I had I wish I could share again the pictures
It's it's in my heart right now. I've not disposed because it's gonna say it's too
Consent to tell the story for
Um, it's it's what it's what shiba laptop are used for about
In the onion out
It goes to your points now when I was doing the laptop. I have to I don't know if you're from an African owned
Yeah, you know what they call omoroo
You know omoroo right? It's like this ticket you should turn
Um swalloo like um
I get the arm or pound your arm or that and all those other
Group of swallies
It goes to your point that I had to use that omoroo
It's my laptop. So it picks up
Very interesting. Never knew what gonna work. It was out of frustration. One random day
Like it's the laptop and then it turned on but what it's running on before and then that became the new strategy of turning on my laptop
I'll take the omoroo and put it
Five times ten times before it turns on and then when it turns on I
Go ahead to welcome my clients projects thinking about for now
There's a risky because most of my projects you know are backups and I would have to divide them
ASAP so I'll be trusting the model world
I say I've done one of them in my house to share because it was telling me stories
So at the time what I could move on to was um
Was the fact that I believe that if I did everything right in terms of building my skill
I'll get to point to where um I would be able to combat clients right
So now the skill is out of it for now, right? Let's talk about something else that nobody talks about
In North and the Philancin community right we have a lot of rules
I mean I mean mixed-today lights introduced me as my own bushel
But one thing that nobody speaks about is how much of charm and error we actually do before we figure out what exactly
The direction of work should be I have random conversations with my friends right um have a community of
Lots of the related community or something I built
Boy I am privileged to have a community of top um freelancers
They speak to every now and day and
We always bring storm strategies we bring storm things that work things. I don't work things that could work and
Get try and error that would you know we're um put in place right mix us to get excellence results, right?
So when I start announce is always a lot of try and error there I encourage try and error you might not be in lots of try and error
We're starting up because try and error burns
Resources right so that mean doing a starting else. They don't have enough money to spawn that connects to be trying and
In North and trying
For one thing to always is that have
An obligation
For try and error always have that's a problem in
Book you read any resource you you get always have a mind of you on one side to try something
Um to try something different or try to see if something works, right?
Because you never know to you try right cool. So um
The third thing I'm going to do right now is I'm going to be drawing the blueprint. It was something I did
When I was passing out to get to the first time key I had to draw consciously draw your blueprints
I mean we know see this in my Toshiba laptop that you don't know what it's I had a blueprint of the part I wanted to follow
To get specific type of results, right?
Now tell you what the blueprint was I was just not as a new writer I didn't have
Before work, right? I mean I had zero proof of all I just had
Joe they did for a couple of my guys that were
Started along among them was cut out across different issues
Medical finance
Uh, sometimes just random books on the read sometimes that's put on entertainment
And so the problem was it looked like I had you know
book us like I had no
Right
But then
One thing that you should always does a few notes of starting out is regardless of whatever it looks like
Draw consciously draw your own blueprints, right? So in your mind you know, you have to wear a blueprints
Now I'll give you an idea of what you think was
Now I did not have enough for work like I said earlier
Um, though I had
I was fortunate my dad used to work with
Children so I was fortunate to have a couple of newsletters
I'm new to people as rather in my house
And so I'll pick up the news papers and I'll go to section on those news papers
News papers are really very consistent to the section of the hard to do out the entertainment section
The now the due to section
Um this book section and then I'll go to pick up these newsletters and I would type the
The contents of the news papers, right? I'll type it on my laptop. I now saved a file and stayed on that portfolio
And that's what I did for my very first portfolio notebook guys. I did not have experience at this time
What I saw on the newspaper and put it there, right? And then I said I'm flying
Aggressive before jobs on for trading now. I'll be very I'm a very practical there
So from this that I'm seeing right now might not be the video
Especially when it comes to aggressive their client for me. It's why because now you have to be more careful
Now it's more expensive to apply for jobs on offer
But then I will aggressively
But I'll go see the account apply for
For jobs on offer. I remember I took it known for my mom
In don't know six thousand there
The number was to buy connect and you need to apply for jobs and the world. I mean it turned out great
6,000 and then went to the doctor. I think six
It's case in this problem
something maybe even maybe more than maybe like
What's he came out maybe even more not sure about I mean six kids was a lot then for me or for me
I mean we have some which guys on this on this space for me sister was not then
Also what I did was that I
Do a blueprint right? I had
I got my portfolio all at the package and then
I compiled some articles from the people I was working with and I would not
Don't play the importance of actually working with other people that I miss face and that's why anytime I meet in new freelancers
I tell you just starting out find other people that's gone ahead right and try to work for them
Work with them. I don't like using work and then work with them and
in the nature of
Job requests are flying send outside
Let me wind you know a couple of those jobs you would be very confident that you can actually do it. You can actually stand on right now
One more thing I would say is um you should observe what other people are doing right
Be very very close and
attentive observer
Um what I mean is
If you're on this call right now
I expect you to have stocked the couple of us here or like up to the couple of questions here, you know like
Just probably check our pages already and just like I was very worried doing right and you think why because you get a lot of ideas you get a lot
Insights right when you observe people especially people that where you want to be right so when you observe there observe carefully don't just
Look at scroll that's not really that's not the observation I'm talking about. I mean of their look
Pro and taking notes right because we forget things you don't take notes also take notes of things that
Stand out from these people and
Try to see how you can replicate what you have I'm not saying you replicate you can replicate their results right or you can try to replicate
the things that you can replicate for instance um
You can build up your portfolio right you can have a very good optimized profile you can have
um you can pick up a course somewhere against the position of putting on your own for profiles
You can do all of that for six times but
Proper structural would get you the results that last the blueprint I'm talking about I hit for
Another major thing actually when you start when you start in our tracks and then you are playing for games
There's so many rules about there's so many rules that govern our plans for using our product
Kind of save this game right away
Because I only have um 30 minutes or I'll say
That's when you follow I hope this speaker here is gonna speak about
The rules that govern up time for weeks and all for both
One major thing you should not um you should always keep in mind is that when you get your clients your first client and I'm not okay
I didn't hear how much that clients is paying you I mean
It could be paying you $1.2
We've seen one for five minutes actually didn't appear
It's the clients asking
The clients are someone that would change their life regardless of whatever me sleep is awful
Like I guess what
probably be platform
And
Platforms usually have rules that govern day so unlike you're unlike um
Maybe running it your freelance career just like off the website so like off
Or from
Opel TV game if I first one game if I so a lot of things there are
If you're not careful 17 things would go to advantage or 17 things would
Sorry 17 will not go for your advantage or 17 will go for you and let me explain what I mean
If you start out on all projects and for
We gave bud with you
Uh a bud with them from a client
I mean your first client maybe the client's expensive or maybe you don't try
You don't try hard enough to satisfy the client and they buy waiting
Yes, they get $2.5
They're four stars
It's because
Pretty difficult
So you get the buff from that because you're just starting out
I mean you could have the opportunity to get more deals that would be your first start waiting or
or that would um
Probably like help you out for them
We're more difficult when you start out and start out but
So it's very important that we first client you
On the promise and then you over the river
There was something nice to do that
So so we're talking practical stuff
I would get a project from that client
And at the time I wasn't really comfortable
I was still confident in my skill and you that you get a job well
But I was overly confident in my skill so
I'll get the client
on one upper
Once I'm done with the job
First of all I'm sure that I meet up with the deadlines
I'm very important
But when I'm done with the job
I'll send another document
So at the right
Most of us work with
Google documents, WordPress
Yeah, I think Google documents on WordPress or maybe Microsoft Word
And all of that
So why you used to do Den
That send the Microsoft Word
Version of my work
Send the PDF version of my work
Send
It random document that suggests improvement
I mean like the direction that the work on Google that would use results for the business of
For clients
And then I'll send another document that we would my workflow
So like
What's I did on each date I was working it was quite the necessary about trying to
Do too much then so that I think it would be good for you
I was just starting out so
I'll see do too much
So um
And then when if I deliver
If for any reason I deliver my job
in the days
I'll send an appology letter
Especially a folder that I find by any
The client
Making clients for giving me
For my poor delivery
I mean so for my little delivery
So this was structuring the implementers that actually helped me a lot.
I think when I started out, I did not get anything less than a five-star one too.
Probably my, I'm not sure enough of.
I knew it took a while, but probably maybe 4.2 or 4.3.
I think over the clients that didn't want to pay me because the crypto markets went on the tailspin.
And at the time, I already wanted to create a crypto project.
So we didn't want to pay me.
We had from back on foot or still very respectful.
I think I was not jumping across 4.2 star.
But yeah, over coming, so on the promise and over to give us insurance.
Insurance means all due respect and should I get your clients asked that's what I'm trying to see it.
Yeah, so what's next?
Another thing that most people would not tell you in freelancing is the earlier you treat freelancing as a job.
The better for you.
So because of the term, you're a lot of people.
A lot of people freelance the wrong way.
So they don't structure their time.
They don't structure their clients acquisition strategies.
I don't structure their quality as sure as strategic.
I need you guys to treat freelancing as a business, as a job.
We'll go very early in the morning, get on your ground.
Get on top of that.
I have the jobs, responsibilities as soon as you can.
Check your job over and over.
Ask for repair.
Try to get.
So yeah, quick tip.
Something just came to my mind right.
A lot of people will not tell you some of this.
As much as you can try to connect with your clients in every way possible.
I'm not telling you to take the contract outside of fees.
Don't do that because it's against the TOS, right?
We've worked.
Try to connect to your client.
I mean because it's your client.
We can connect with you anyway.
So you can connect with him on LinkedIn, email, Facebook, Twitter.
It really helps because I've heard from the fact that you're using your upwork profile.
You should be building your personal burn on the side.
Try.
Does it.
Quick tip for you guys.
You do personal burn on the side.
Please.
But upwork is largely gamified.
And so sometimes you might forget to do things that would help you.
Those strengthening you as an upwork freelancer and as a freelancer as a whole.
Right.
So last and last and last and last.
That's not what I say is.
Your community.
It's very important.
This right here that we have.
Here is this kind of is a comment.
Obviously the community event.
But when I mean your community is very important.
I want you to observe something.
Okay.
If I could have the privilege to ask.
I'm just going to have a couple of people here that I know.
Yeah, I'll just ask if you can.
The light and final touch.
Quick question guys.
When you were starting out today.
When you were growing before you'd go your first decade.
Was it not really helpful when you had people that's where around it.
I could ask quick questions like a group chat or something.
I really hope just see just see quick.
Yes, I know just just knew was that.
Yes, yes, I'm a mess.
Damien.
I was even about to comment on that like you know like a mentor helps.
Fast track the whole process.
You know, and like having a community.
Would have really helped.
But like a lot of us started in the shadows.
So yes, it was like a love trial and error.
Yeah, yeah, final touch about you bro.
My.
My case was different.
I didn't have any mentor.
But I.
I like I did a lot of research.
I watched a lot.
I watched a lot of videos from talk and I was like Fisher.
Remote Oliver and the rest.
So well, that's that's mentorship right.
But I didn't have anyone on one.
It was just mostly try and error doing research here and there.
But they're watching a lot of videos from this guy's and doing
properly.
Yeah, yeah.
So yeah, yeah.
Thanks guys.
Honestly, thanks.
Thanks so much.
So yeah, just like.
The light said I find out what said right.
There is no way you'd want to succeed.
You know, go out of your way right.
To research to ask questions right.
I mean, final touch, my not a party direct community boy had.
A question question.
I'm doing.
He will ask questions to get answers to his questions online.
Nobody has the community picture as well.
There are lots of questions and yeah.
There are answers already to those questions.
They could just check out.
It's very important, however, to.
Take advantage of any chance you have to have a community or mentorship.
and the goal for the communities to help newbies that are just starting out to have a direction,
right? Because honestly, there are so many things that could be difficult for you as a newbie
example. If you are among people that have done this before or people that are like very close to
where you are, you would be able to scale faster. When I was starting out having friends, right?
That really helped me a lot. We discussed things that we had to do to scale. I had people that
were working with at the time, they were top earners and all that. And so I would chip in questions.
So I think I would like to think I was in a great job for them. So I would chip in questions to ask
about how they did that and then they would help me with answers or help me figure out the process
and all of that. That was really helpful for me. I can't lie to you.
So yeah, I guess that's all I have to say for now. Thanks guys.
Is there right here?
There are you.
There are you here?
I think it's probably a nest of problem. If there's anyone who had a question for me,
I don't know if I'm able to take questions now or I mean,
I can't hear from the lights. I can't get this opportunity to.
Yeah, people are asking the question.
Do you have a question?
Oh, yes.
One or one or course.
So just because I'm excess.
So I guess maybe I should just consider you.
Because yeah, 30 30 minutes.
Okay, so thank you.
I'm in Lola. You said a lot of things.
You talked about your experience, how you started, how...
Okay, he's back.
You like that? Are you here?
Yeah, I can hear you. He's broken.
Okay, sorry. I think it's the network.
Can I ask?
It's very nice.
All right. Yeah, I was hearing you guys, but I don't know why you're hearing me.
Where you're talking about me having to go and request.
Anyway, thank you very much, Mr. Dami.
That was amazing.
From fact, you guys, I knew Mr. Dami from...
...would've asked this in fact,
or else it's in above-a-mill oil university.
So hey, and you guys can tell from his voice,
he's a big man.
When he reached me and talking.
They don't rush.
They talk calmly, you know, and that's so...
From what Mr. Dami said, you know,
a lot of us had to figure out these things,
like through trial and error.
It's written, trying 100 possible different things,
